Dancing in the rain is a wonderful thing to do before work. I allowed myself a few mintues of that guilty pleasure even though I was terribly late for work. A combination of a 2:30am Madrid frame-relay outage and wonderful soothing rain outside my window in the morning conspired to have me sleep blissfully. The start of the rainy season is always a favorite time of year for me. I even got to use my new screaming-yellow rainjacket.

BJ's Bar and Grill was a good choice for a quick b'day dinner for [livejournal.com profile] chipotle followed by a very entertaining episode of CSI. The only part that made me cringe was seeing an overweight photographer with a decent camera taking lobby-shots. The rest of it made me laugh quite a bit. Kudos to the 'script advisor' from the fandom (darkfox is his name, I think) who helped turn it from an MTV-special farce into an amusing (if TV-ized) look at things.

Hilarious flash movie someone on my rider's-board pointed out: http://bink.id.au/stuff/endoftheworld.swf

Warning: some adult language. Otherwise just plain silly. :)

Costumes

This has been a very non-holiday for me so far. No costume, no extra batches of lightsticks, and a rather socially stuffy company that didn't dress up or put up decor. There were two exceptions: one of our engineers dressed up as a Reggae singer (and being a tall skinny French guy it looked hilarious, which is what he wanted) and my boss Diamond Dave dressed up as an amazingly convicing, true-to-form Raoul Duke. No kidding.

I don't know what's funnier... that he pulls off a Duke so amazingly well or that I'm the only guy in the office who knew who he was dressed up as.

He even had a martini glass and a briefcase full of mock-drugs. C'mon, people... that's funny...
