Monoblocks, anyone?
Sep. 4th, 2008 12:52 amThis is a rare 'for sale' posting here in my LJ. As I move more and more into fabrication and prototyping gear I keep getting rid of my prior gadget-love: high end audio stuff. This next piece to go is a nifty rarity. I thought I'd put it up here in the LJ in case any of my friends were audio nuts and wanted a first crack at it.
For Sale: A pair of Marantz MA-24 monoblock amplifiers.

(image blatantly ganked from google-images since I haven't taken a good picture of mine yet)
These are a pair of 30W, Class-A, single-channel (monoblock) amplifiers. They are designed for smaller, extremely accurate sound systems. They are circa 1992 or so, and were European release only. They're considered a 'very rare' amp these days. I got these in exchange for other equipment about 8 years ago, and to be honest, I didn't know what I had. I knew they sounded amazing, but I had no idea they were considered rare.
My prior roomie
chipotle used them for a number of months and can attest that they're still in great condition.
Rated Power: 30W Class-A
Distortion: 0.03% THD
Input Sensitivity: 1V
Signal/Noise: > 100 dB
Dimentions: 8.2 - 6.4 - 14.1 in
Weight: 24.2 lb
The only brochure/spec-sheet I could find still on the 'net was one on their .NL site, so it's not in English, sorry: Marantz.NL spec sheet MA24
There's a pair of them currently selling on eBay for $1999. I've seen them on Craigslist before for around $2200.
I'd sell them for half that much to a friend, if one was interested. Make me an offer. If nobody here is interested I'll push 'em at Craigslist instead, no worries. :)
