The trip to the airport went quick. For having left smack in the middle of rush hour, I was surprised how smooth traffic flowed all the way to SFO. A short while later I'd acquired [livejournal.com profile] reality_fox and dragged him to a TGI Friday's in Burlingame to detox (by retox) from his flight. It was one of the best little dinners I've had with a friend in ages, to be truthful. Much de-stressing on both sides, and rambling about life, parents, motorcycles, and Sancho.

I got home to a garage that smelled strangely of burnt coffee... but instead it turned out to be the first time we've ever had burnt popcorn in the microwave. [livejournal.com profile] chipotle informed me that [livejournal.com profile] octantis had done the carbonized deed, as he'd brought some friends by to say Hi and they'd waited around for me. He attempted to entertain with popcorn, but it ended in tears (due to the smoke). :) He didn't know I'd been airport bound. His crew went off to nab starchy goodness at the Olive Garden and left all kinds of entertaining scribbles on the whiteboard about how they planned to return.

A fun time was had chatting about electroluminescent wire, LEDs, lightsticks, poi, starwatching, Garmin Rinos, and incredibly poor-taste computer videos (Tokyo Breakfast, anyone? Aieee...) . They were all exceptionally cool folks, and a refreshing break from a normally boring Tuesday. Between this and the TGI detox, it's put my week on a really cool note. I'll gladly ride this groove to the weekend if I can manage it.

While fussing with the various light-producing toys, I got nudged to pull the camera out. The full batch of pics taken is, as always, on the imageserver.

My neighbors must think us nuts... but after a decade of living near us, I think they expect that. Cyalume draws wonderful patterns in the air when attached to strings like fire-poi, or taped to the ends of a twirlystick like Octantis has. There's tons more of this stuff with the rest of the pics on the image page from tonight.

We also pulled out [livejournal.com profile] revar's 3-year-old now (geez, has it been that long?) TRON-costume hat, and various folks gave it a try-on. The shirt was an especially nice touch as it was pretty flourescent-responsive to the LED's UV-heavy light. It also makes a good end to this entry. :)
