Here's something I've decided to try for fun: I've got a handful of shots (some from the D30, some from the watch-cam) that show interesting details but not the whole picture. Maybe a bit of texture, maybe a crop from a macro shot or maybe just an object that's not real obvious as to what it does. As these images come in I'll put them up here in the LJ to see if anybody can figure them out.

If nobody figures it out I'll post the answer (and the full photo if applicable) the next day. If you guys like this idea and have fun with it, I'll spin it off into it's own "picture quiz" journal.

Here goes the first two. Both were taken yesterday. For those of you who saw references to the first one in my other friends' journals, don't cheat and give it away. :)

1 - Looks like an eyeball closeup.
2 - Hrm... not entirely sure -what- it is, but it looks like a small solder or joint weld on some sort of bracket.

Uh... Mares tails in the sky and ... uh... watch endpiece?

Picture guesses.

Second picture looks almost, but not quite, like a surface-mount component. Which means it's almost certainly something completely different.

First picture almost looks like the very tiny fibers that are root hairs' root hairs =o.o=.

It'll be nice to finally get the answers =^.^=. Very neat looking pictures (especially the first).

#1 is indeed an eyeball. Mine, in fact. Left eye, lower left corner of the iris.

#2 is a surface mount resistor, about .5mm x 2.5mm in size, soldered to a larger circuit board found right here. It's teeeny tiny -- just below the bigger black chip in the center of the left hand edge of the green sub-board.

Points wins on #1. Deuce wins on #2 barely (his description was closer) though Points was quite close. :) Deuce, for your prize I'll happily give you a LJ code so you can actually _post with a name_ ! *teases*
