It is a good day to stomp-around-happy
May. 19th, 2003 02:49 pmMy company doesn't "do" bonuses. Hell, it doesn't even really do raises. At the best one can expect between 1% and 2% and that's only if you've definately earned it. This frugalness with the corporate finances extends throughout the enterprise and it's intelligently done. This is one of the reasons why my company is a post-dotcom "startup" that's rock solid and going places. Sure, it sucks to get no bonus or raise, but the payoff is a long-term stable job in an unstable economy. I've been here for 2.3 years so far and with the exception of occasional grumbles at Diamond Dave, I really love going to work in the morning.
That being said... for my design-foundation work on the new international customer network and for all my after-hours support, the CEO just surprised me with a gift: 1 additional week of vacation per yerar (effective immediately) and a $2k bonus in the paybucket (it'll show up sometime in the next few weeks).
W00t. *basks for a while, like a spoiled/pampered cat*
