tugrikSpent the weekend in Yosemite with friends after taking care of some family stuff. Like the others in the group I've got a bunch of photos to process and post online eventually. But just for fun, there's one series I'd like to post real quick.
Three of our campmates were insane and hiked to the top of Half Dome. Some of the rest of us, being slightly less insane ourselves, piled in the TC and drove up to the nearest vista, Glacier Point. For the first group to reach the top it took some seven miles of hiking, 5000+ft of ascent and a half a day. For us it took under an hour to cover the 35-or-so miles of twisty road. Once at our respective destinations we're actually only 2.8 miles apart, separated by a big, deep gap of empty air.
Once the crazy climbers reached the top they had cel signal from a distant tower. Reveille was able to squeak out an SMS with his phone to let us know his group had arrived at the summit. Kannik had a nice, distance-visible red shirt. Garth lent me his 200mm lens and 2x extender. Even with hazy air it does a decent job when mounted on my 5DmkII camera.
