(my bike, that is, not me!)

The GL1800 left my abode tonight properly secured to a trailer borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] dustykat. It's attached to the back of my father's pickup truck for the ride through the snowy passes back to Oregon. While I'm glad to see it going to someone who will give it the TLC all good motorcycles deserve, I will miss it a little bit. I'm happy about the decision, no question there. I'd rather see it go to a man who's desired a GoldWing for most of his adult life instead of selling it for half of what it's worth to some random person out there. Due to the frame-crack issue the 2001-GL18's have (thank you oh so very much, Honda...) the market value is trashed, even for a never-had-the-problem bike like mine. Besides, this way I can still visit it now and then and give it a ride. :)

Noressa, Reba, Chareth, Dingybatty and all the other wonderful ladyfriends who've 2-up'd with me, I'm glad to have shared the ride with you. When my weight is farther down and I feel safe in having a co-rider on my other, lighter bikes I'd be honored to take you on trips in the future.

Fare well, beastly blue bike. May the piloting of my father and the curvy roads of Oregon treat you well.

Image taken a month or two after I got the bike, on the Pacific Coast Highway just south of Half Moon Bay, CA.

Isna too sad... more like a 'kid moving out on his own' kind of thoughtful. For this bike, and my dad, the adventure is just beginning anew. :)

When that day comes, please let me know! I have a helmet that's wanting badly to be used!

Two interpretations of the image: showoff or blessing.

So that's what Tug-blue looks like. ('gryn) Glad to hear that your dad is providing a good home to it now.
