FYI for those who use any of the network services on the sites I run:

Our primary link is having a nasty time of it. There is a physical line problem, and PacBell is out working on patching us onto a nother cable pair. It's been misbehaving on and off for the last 24 hours or so. Their current estimated fix time is about another 6-8 hours, depending on how much linework they have to do.

This affects things such as The Nice, about 30 webcomics, a few personal sites, and also FM. It's been a long time since we've had this kind of line problem, and I hope it's another long time before it happens again. Sorry for the downtime!

Let me take this down time to give you thanks for all the services you provide -- its really sweet and generous. :)

I guess some of us take it for granted until we miss it -- but then that's true about a lot of things.
