revar around some of the more hidden areas around the valley. I've discovered quite a few thanks to two-wheeled travel, including an old rocket-motor testing facility.
Otherwise, the home is calm, as is the life. I'll jot another note on the 'why' for that probably later tonight. While the quietness leaves me feeling mildly detached, it's great for catching up with things at work. My normal insanty will resume by the weekend, I'm more than sure. I actually enjoy the anticipation of it.
A playful side-thing: A friend named Gaelif is helping me with some new LJ userpic sketches, so I can have better icons for moods. I'd rather use my 10 slots for post-related mood things, instead of those silly micro-icons anyways. Here's my favorite one so far, in progress, which just has me grinning from ear to ear:

Yes, I consider this drawing to be quite accurate to the character, though this may surprise some folks who know me online. If you're curious, ask me about it sometime. The finished versions will end up here in LJ after a bit.
I always feel guilty when asking for art; it's a skill I don't have. I do my best to make sure a fair payment, trade, or return favor is made, though it's a suprisingly touchy social dance sometimes. At the core of it is my belief that artwork is a cherished skill with notable value; those who provide it are due proper compensation. :)
If anybody is interested, I'll LJ-post up a page of the small group of drawings I've purchased or been given over the years. Most of them are online, but the're scattered about without any kind of annotations.
