Big Blue (literally)
Sep. 24th, 2002 06:15 pmPictures of the Bates riding suit being worn are now up.
In short: The jacket is wonderful, and works/fits/functions well. The pants were a good idea, but didn't pan out. Baters had to do new things for my size, and well... they've got a bit to learn in the huge-people-clothing arena. Things just don't always scale well. I may end up using just normal jeans and boots for commuting and save the full riding-pants for the long trips.
And yes -- I know that these things make a fat rider look even more huge. Embarrasingly so. It's downright freaky, in fact. Still... I'd rather be road-safe and mocked than pulpy hamburger after a low-side. So laugh-a while you can, monkeyboy! :)

Date: 2002-09-24 10:45 pm (UTC)I like, looks really cool. I should ask more about the company -- my brother rides, my brother is a big guy, maybe he would be interested, since this seems to have worked out well for you.

The suits, in addition to all of the other safety features that are selling points, are designed in *bright* *shiny* fabrics that reflect light so that the rider is more visible than usual, so none of you is blending into the background as you would in jeans or a dark leather jacket.
In other words, I think you looked good & the suit is a safety measure so I hope you wear it.
