Feeling better after getting the workday properly wrangled into place, I nixed the stress-relieving rant from earlier. Life at work gets much easier to take when you drown out co-workers with bad techno through earphones.
However, not all was right in the world. Everybody on the engineering floor was wandering about grumbling at each other about being hungry, but nobody could get their act together and make an administrative decision on where to go. Unlike
calicougar's office, we're not big enough to have parties to scavenge from. While the varied attempts to sway groups towards one restaurant or another ground on, I logged into the website of the local pizza place we've got an account with (a Papa John's) and had them send over four garbage-pizzas, half of them with anchovies, and a big ol' mess of garlic-sauce & breadsticks. They arrived with impeccable timing, right in the middle of the exec-staff coming over to get into the fray of where-to-go-for-lunch. I strolled in and doled out pizza boxes like a stack of Shut-Thy-Pie-Hole cupons.
Everybody had good food. Everybody stopped complaining. Work paid for the pizza by default. I got thanked by the annoyed-at-whiny-engineers e-staff... and dang is this garlic sauce good.
Friday's going much better now.
