FYI on the FM Discussion
Jan. 30th, 2003 02:52 pmThe raging debate a few entries ago is a bit past the point of being useful for anybody; too many replies on one thread. At the same time, I've never really wanted my personal LJ to become a FM-debate forum, other than the occasional, casual mention.
The discussion on my part was mostly tail-gazing; musing on the way I feel FM's public image is far from as good as it should be... and hornpoking at one of the possible causes (I know there are many, esp. the registration situation). While I didn't intend to spark such a huge debate, I'm glad it's on people's minds now.
To try to get a handle back on my LJ again, I'm going to shut off comments on that post so no new ones can be put up. I'm _hoping_ it preserves all the comments already there, so folks can still read them. Does anybody know how to do that? After a weekend of chilling out, if I'm ready to strike back into these debates again, I'll create a new FM-policy-debating type journal instead and redirect dicussions over there to keep from spamming the friends-and-relatives who read my journal.

Date: 2003-01-30 08:12 pm (UTC)Sure. Post enough new entries to scroll it off your recent posts display. Then 99.9% of readers will ignore it rather than click through to get at it =^.^=.
Or just ignore the issue, as posting seems to have slowed down (cross claws).
