DNS Change Notification

I've sent individual emails to everybody involved already, but I'm posting this here as well just to be sure folks see it. Please read this message if I host secondary DNS for any of your domain zones.

We are shifting around our servers to make better use of our current data center setup. As part of this cleaning-up, we're moving our DNS servers to virtual names so we can swap the actual machines out when needed. Our current DNS servers are being renamed as a result.

If you use us for secondary DNS, you currently use the name SB2.FBRTECH.COM. That name is going away as of the end of August, 2008. In its place will be the new nameserver, MON2.FBRTECH.COM. Please update your named.conf to allow MON2.FBRTECH.COM to zone transfer. Also please add the appropriate authorized-nameserver line in each of your zones we provide secondary for:

@ IN NS MON2.FBRTECH.COM

If you do not do this by the end of August, 2008, you will have no secondary DNS coverage from our site when the old names go offline. If you don't wish us to host your secondary data any more, please drop me a line (tugrik@gmail.com is fine) and we'll remove it from our tables, no worries.

Nope! If I host the whole domain, it's already taken care of. :) This is only for folks who host their own domains but have asked me to just run secondary DNS for you. :)

What about furrymuck.com and .net and .org which seem to list ns.fbrtech.com and tarne.fbrtech.com ?

If you control those domains, please update their DNS to read:

mon1.fbrtech.com (primary)
mon2.fbrtech.com (secondary)
