Staaaaaaahrz
Aug. 30th, 2008 12:19 amSo... I was testing out the four-ink-black modes and looking for subject material. I found a creative-commons released super-high-rez (40" x 80" x 300dpi!) black and white image of the Carina Nebula. I was doing small prints of it and seeing how much detail I could squeak into certain media types.
The downside of the printer being on a network server in the far end of the house is sometimes you boff a print-size setting and don't notice until you head over and see it spooled out on the floor.

That's 24" x 48", on Hahnemuhle Bamboo 290gsm fine art matte paper. It's very pretty and highly detailed. The print is 100-year lightfast and waterproof, though it will abrade if you scratch it with a sharp object. It's also something I have absolutely nowhere to put, and it'd be total shame to throw it away.
Since it's creative-commons I'm not allowed to sell it, but it's perfectly okay for me to give it away. If anybody local wants it, drop by and snag it any time! I'd mail it out but you'd have to pay me the usual $12 to ship it ($4 of tubes, $8 fedex ground), which I'm not sure if it'd affect the 'do not sell' license or not. In any case, if you like b/w astronomical prints and would like this one, please come get it. :)
