Seestah update

tugrikSince I've had enough people ask I figure I should LJ post it:
The little mil-brat sister is A-OK. Actually, she's back home at Moffett for the time being. After the whole debacle with Turkey not letting troops in to form a new base her group got punted around and eventually ended up being put in line for smallpox vaccinations back at Moffett. As what they got is a 'live virus' shot they were contagious to other people and were quarantined for most of 21 days. That quarantine period just let up and I finally got to see her this week. We went out for a good Italian dinner.
She has no idea where and when they're going to ship her out. Her unit is in total limbo right now -- not able to resume dayjobs but not being deployed anywhere either. She's really embarrased about it, too. Here she went and told all her friends, family, co-workers and acquaintenances she was off to Turkey and now, a month later, here she is slumming around the Bay Area again. Every time she sees someone she knows she has to explain why she's not overseas and it's really socially awkward. As glad as she (and all of us in my family) are that she's stateside, it's really got her life held up right now. She's kind of wishing they'd either ship her somewhere and get things going or let her unit de-activate so they can get back to attempting normal lives/careers.
She wanted me to say Thank You to all the folks who've wished her safe times. When there's more news about her unit shipping out I'll post it.
