State of the B33f
Feb. 16th, 2009 02:51 amThe Batou Abides.
He had his specialist appointment this past week. The good news is that the ear infection is showing serious signs of improvement; no more funky-eye, no more squishy-ear. It's not gone away, though. The infection was down deep, in his inner-ear, but the meds (and getting his diabetes under control) are doing a great job of clearing it up.
As a result of his improvement the kitty-doc said that I could safely keep him on the meds for a few more weeks and then check his progress. If it works then we may just keep him on a shifting regimen of meds instead of going up to the multi-$thousands for the CT scans and possible surgery. Time will tell.
His fur has almost completely grown back and there's no sign of his frankenscar from his original surgery last fall. He's a seriously happy cat that shows no real signs of any problems. He's tons more mobile than when I got him; he even enjoys chasing the laser pointer. He's still got a little more fur-length to go before he's got his full coat back, but even now he's got a good bit of a mini-lion mane goin'.

His favorite place to sleep is still aside my head, doing his best to take all of the huge body-pillow on my bed for himself. He's there right now, watching me type, looking properly smug. Sometimes he'll wake me up by draping a paw over my face, or by overheating/smothering me as he tries to cutely curl up below my chin. Ooof. Dang big cat.
Speaking of size, he's also down from 24.9lb to 21.7 over the last few months, which the doc says is just about the right weight loss rate. That pic is especially flattering, though; he's still a majorly tubby beast. I'll get better shots of him in the daylight soon. Luckily he loves the brush (most of our other cats hate being brushed). When groomed he looks downright regal. And yes, he's still a bucket of purrs.
