Looking for feedback from AC attendees
Jul. 7th, 2009 08:13 amNeither Revar nor I went to Anthrocon this year, but many of our products from Monoceros Media did! We're a fabrication and prototyping shop that does large-format printing, fine art printing and laser engraving work. These were all done on contract either for artists attending AC or for AC directly:
Did you go to Anthrocon? If you did and you saw any of these items in person, I'd love to hear your opinion of them. What worked? What could be better?
I'm especially interested to find any pictures of the dance posters hanging up, to see how the size worked vs. the venue location. I'm also dying to see if the glowy-acrylic badges worked under the black-lights and such. This is why I'm eagerly watching LJ, Twitter and other feeds for posts of videos from the dances. :)
Reading my friends' reports so far it sounds like it was the best AC yet, which makes me smile quite a lot. I'm glad we could help with the little details like this. If you have any interest in products like this for your own events, conventions or other projects, please, don't hesitate to ask. You can reach me at tugrik@gmail.com. Thanks again!

Date: 2009-07-08 07:44 am (UTC)(And how much would they cost?)

Date: 2009-07-08 07:54 am (UTC)Cost depends on sq-footage of acrylic, thickness and level of detail required for raster-etchings.

Date: 2009-07-08 08:50 am (UTC)As for the dance posters, I felt they were easy to spot...though they could be just a little bit bigger. (While I could read the bottom section of the poster, reading the upper section was a little tricky.)

Date: 2009-07-08 11:49 am (UTC)But I got the one for being a fursuiter. Looking at it right now! I really love it... One of the first things I did when I arrived was go and get one.
I saw the other badges (Fur in Black, and Masquerade) - but didn't know where they came from at the time. I liked those ones QUITE a bit. Something about the style and everything. I really liked this year's theme with the badges and everything.
Really not looking forward to stone age stuff next year >_>

Date: 2009-07-08 12:38 pm (UTC)We're trying different locations each year, it's a little tricky because we have to have the union hang them during setup, and there isn't a lot of time for experimentation because we've got a lot of other equipment to set up as well.
Generally, the size is going to remain about the same, as there's a hard limit to one dimension :)

Date: 2009-07-08 04:44 pm (UTC)from what i understand there was no black lights at the dance (which means i actually could have been in there...) but the little UV given off by the blue lights on the roof of the convention center lit them up nice and of course they glowed at dusk when the sun was not direct but there is that light quality that makes black light stuff like that glow anyway.
I know that since i have seen that i am going to actually do engraved art on Mica now (i had picked up an rotary dremel like engraver before the con and found it works wonderful on mica!) I had been thinking people may not like it but i see people do so.
