Huge thanks in advance to both of them! And thanks also to the shall-be-praised electrician currently running around the shop, spreading the 200A-3Phase love to new outlets all around its perimeter. Finally! Because what's a party without some power?

The reason we're hosting this little shindig is to get local people together for a meet-and-greet in a Maker-like environment. There are so many creative and talented folk around the bay area that we don't get to see enough of... so we figured getting them together for a relax-a-party could only help. And if cool project-ideas result? We've got a space for them to come back to and actually try to make it happen.
We've got a better idea of the schedule now. If you want to learn how to weld, use a plasma cutter, do a bit of CNC work or otherwise get an intro (or share your experience) on some shop tools, show up in the morning at 10:00am. For the first few hours we'll be making with the fabrication in a very hands-on way. If you're coming for this part, please wear close-toed shoes and bring a long-sleeve shirt or throwover!
As the noon hour rolls around we'll put away the more dangerous tools and start up the cooking-fires. By 1pm there should be many fine noshables to partake of, with snacks and drinks throughout the rest of the afternoon and evening.
Once the main nomfing is wrapping up in the early afternoon, Croc'll get some tunes started and it'll be more of the traditional party type atmosphere. There'll be Rock Band to play, various rooms to head off to if you like it more quiet and more fussing about with the less-crowd-dangerous tools like the laser and big printer.
We'll be fabricating all kinds of weird little party favors to give out (like we make for the various conventions). Also, please feel free to bring anything you want to try to laser engrave or decorate, or bring a USB stick with your artwork or photographs if you'd like to try to make some posters, stickers or panoramas. I've got a lot of oddball stock to go through and give away so you might as well take advantage. :) If nothing else, show up for some free stuff!
If you have your own idea or project you'd like to bring and share around, please, contact me as we'd encourage it! If you let us know what kind of power or space requirements you need we can work to accommodate it. But if you don't? Don't sweat it. Come to just hang out. We want to see people and just have a fun time. Come for some of it or all of it as you wish. :)

Please, if you haven't already, drop me an RSVP line to tugrik@gmail.com so we can better size the food, drink and seating setups. I'm hoping that friends who know me are inviting their trusted friends in turn. If you've got any questions about attending or bringing someone, just give me a holler. Hope to see everybody there!
(I'll send one more LJ update next weekend -- and if anybody can suggest a better place to post this, please let me know. Also, this entry is open for comments unlike the earlier one if you want to ask any questions more openly!)
