The newsletter for one of my welding vendors showed up in email today (Of course I read it -- with a tagline like The Power of Blue, how could I not?). Each month they put up an article on someone's welding project. This month's was so epic that I had to share. Besides, it's a good Moar Dragons moment for both [livejournal.com profile] foofers and [livejournal.com profile] reveille_d. :)

85 ft long, mirror-polished, stainless steel Water Dragon

I dream of being able to create sculpture this nice.

Wonder what he's going to sell it for. You KNOW some chinese business magnate will have to have it for his corporate lobby.

This is absolutely epic. Epic even above the steampunk cheetah. Wow!

I hope this ends up on public display somewhere, rather than hidden away forever in some wealthy person's private collection.

Damn. :)

Holy CRAP! I thought it was just a trick of perspective, that it was maybe six feet long...didn't realize until I read the caption just how huge it is! Big RAR!

Tug's making a leeetle 'selective quote' there.
"Weighing 6000lbs and standing 12 ft high, 14 ft wide, 35 ft long with 2 large coils in the body. Stretched out Kevin's sculpture would be over 85 ft long!"

Hey, there's no accounting for noodlydragons. They like to twist up on themselves to confuse and mesmerize. No matter how you coil it, longdragons are long! :)

I could have just put in the quote about the two miles of TIG welding...

I've been part of rechroming the front of a 1950 cadillac, its almost too blue to be polished stainless. Either way, that's a lot of polishing. Pretty simple to make just really time consuming and you have to have the vision.
