tugrik1993 miles. Amusingly, that number is the same as the year when I moved to California. I find that rather fitting, even if it was a lot for one weekend. 800 or so of those miles were on the last day (Sunday). 163 pictures made it out of the camera and on to the imageserver so far, plus a fair bit more as yet undownloaded that I need to stitch together into mega-panoramas. 17,177x2,536 pixel images? Sure, why not!
Highlights: Fireworks over zion; rocks alight with their glow. Serendipitous lodging at the Grand Canyon despite the booked-solid holiday status. Seeing Revar pull a Kneau (...woah...) when looking up inside the Luxor. Finding my 'road groove' again, which I've not truly felt since the 1993 move. Dinner at Domingo's to top it off.
Downsides: Some mild angst over getting back on time; a day more of planning would have helped. One rather cruddy tourist-dinner. A 45 mile, 4+ hour, 115-degree Traffic Jam of Record Proportions -- smack dab in the middle of nowhere: Baker, CA.
It was a worthwhile run, indeed. Tomorrow when I'm between tasks I'll jot down a more complete write-up with pics. I tend to do my best journalling when I'm sneaking cycles away from work. Doubly so if I'm slinking past assigned busywork. :)
