First off, Happy Birthday, chipotle! You're a cool roomate and I'm glad you're around. Just felt that needed to be said. :)

But about the title: a little while ago the roomies and I were eating at the local Pasta Pomodoro. Right next to it was an "EZ Shoes" store that I never really paid attention to. Giving it a closer look for no particularly good reason I saw all the shoes in the window were a little weird. They had springs on the heel. reality_fox thought they were just plain wrong.

I wear inserts in my shoes to help with my funky knee. The last time I was at my family doc's office I asked her about the bouncy-shoes. We looked them up on the web together (having a net-connected doctor rocks!) and found out they were called Z-Shoes. The design of their foot-base is extremely similar to the inserts I wear and the spring could only help lower impact (good on the knee), so my doc thought I should give them a try if they weren't too expensive.

During lunch today I went back to the store to see how much they were and if they had any to fit me. Much to my surprise they had all kinds of weird sizes, including my odd 13EEE's. As a normal pair of shoes in my size of any decent quality runs >$60, and the inserts run $40, I'm used to having to spend a C-note to get new shoes (which is why I tend to only have one or two pairs at any time and hold on to them for much longer than necessary). These were $160. Since they have a 7-day money back guarantee I figured I'd try them out.

Okay, they don't really bounce but they do feel really nifty. They're fun in that subtle "lofty strides" kind of way. We'll see how they pan out over the next week. So far they've been great! *bounces in place on big paws*

Thanks. :) That was taken with my watch-camera (the watch in the picture, actually) and is when my hair was a lot shorter.

It got a bit longer after that. These days it's long enough that the front comes down to a few inches below my chin. It's still cut in a mohawk-shape like in that pic; the sides are only a few mm long (fuzzy), but when I wear the hair down it's hard to tell. I need to get around to putting a few clanky-things back in it.

I'm currently at a total impasse about what to do with this mop of a mane, and I ditched the beard (though I'm thinking it's time to grow it back). I need to find a good stylist and find a new way to wear the hair. I'd get the Fab 5 to re-do me, but they only help out New Yorkers. Feh. :)
