This weekend was spent going up to Pt. Reyes on Saturday and around Calaveras Resevoir on Sunday. The goal was to get there at sunset to experiment with the light a little. On one of the shots I was trying for a pastel-like effect by using a soft lens and some filtering; I'm somewhat pleased with the results. Light hitting sands at such a low angle gives them a unique color tone, but it's hard to catch with digital gear. The greens of the dune grasses stand out wonderfully, though.

As with all my pictures, click through twice to get the full sized ones. Here's the three attempts at being 'artsy':

And, for those of you who asked earlier I've finally put up a decent picture of the ear piercing in its final state:

Thanks to Garth and Watts for helping with such third-party pictures. It's a lot easier than using a tripod and a timer.

I liked these very much. Point Reyes is one of the most ethereally beautiful places I know of, especially in that trembling light of sunset. I hope to make it back there, someday.

One thing I might also have tried on 'Dune with Green Building' was just crouching down while shooting, a little, and aiming up at the building, so as to place it backlit above the horizon, rather than down below the hilltops. I don't know how it would have worked, but it comes to mind when looking at your picture, which I think is my favorite of all of them.

Apropos of very little: you also link to all the tugrik art, on your image server. I'm continually boggling when I see evidence like this of all the artistic talent on FurryMUCK. (It is FurryMUCK, right?) Coolness.

Yea!
A convention (major convention) owner buzzed Further this year to scope the way a few things were done. The most consistant comment she made, in different ways but over and over again, was about the art. The dealers room was full of art. There was an art show. Artists were treated as celebrities. It seemed like everyone had a sketch pad. She dropped a bundle in the art show and considered them all excellent quality and great bargains. These are my opinions of her impressions made from several weeks of hearing casual comments pepper her conversation.

What breathtaking images!

I like the one of Revar and the waves because it gives such a sense of scale. One would be tempted to dismiss them as normal surf without that still, small figure centering and identifying the impact for us.

Wait, that isn't normal surf?
